The ears are the tabs on the portafilter that lock into the group head. Count the slots around your machine's group head, or look at your original portafilter: our 54mm sets have three.

Same 54mm fit and the same tools. The Wood set has a wood handle; the Aluminum set has a black anodized aluminum handle. Pick the one you like holding.

After each session, knock out the puck, then rinse the basket and puck screen under warm water. The basket lifts out for a deeper clean. With no spouts, there are fewer tight corners for coffee oils to build up.

We recommend hand washing every part. Dishwashers can dry out a wooden handle and dull anodized aluminum. Wipe the handle with a damp cloth and dry it right away.

Keep it out of standing water and dry it after use. If it starts to look dry, rub in a little food-safe wood oil or board conditioner and buff off the excess.

Spraying usually means uneven flow through the puck: clumps, an uneven tamp, a dose that's too high or low, or a grind that's off. Our extraction guide shows what each sign means and how to fix it.
